Inspect a product before you buy it.
A second opinion on the listing in front of you: whether the discount adds up, what buyers complained about, who is selling it, and what the listing leaves out. Every check runs in your browser.
Seven checks, one verdict
Every finding shows where on the page it came from, so you can disagree with ShopInspect when ShopInspect is wrong.
Price
The amount, the was-price, and whether an advertised discount matches the two prices shown. The runners-up are listed, so you can see it read the right number.
Reviews
The rating weighed by how many buyers stand behind it, the star breakdown, and what the visible reviews praise and complain about.
Seller
Who is selling it, their rating and location where shown, and whether it is a marketplace seller or the store itself.
Product
Name, brand, model, availability, specifications and images, each with its source and how sure ShopInspect is of it.
Delivery and returns
The delivery charge, an estimated total when both figures were read, the delivery estimate, the return window and the warranty.
Value and listing quality
What the listing offers for its price, what it leaves unclear, and where the page contradicts itself.
And what you can do with it
Step through every finding on the page itself, save up to eight products to compare side by side, export the report as JSON or CSV, or copy a summary to send to someone.
A phrase first, the number as evidence
You can act on "Good Buy". When a listing states too little, ShopInspect says so instead of guessing.
- Excellent Buy
- Good Buy
- Fair Deal
- Think Twice
- Poor Value
- Not Enough Information
Every report carries a coverage figure: how much of what ShopInspect looks for the listing actually stated. Below 40%, no verdict is given, whatever the arithmetic says.
Four steps, no setup
Open a product
One product's page, on almost any store.
Open ShopInspect
Click the toolbar button, right-click the page, or press Ctrl Shift Y.
Read the verdict
The price and seller appear at once. The full read follows a moment later.
Check the working
Step through the findings and the page scrolls to each one.
Works on most of retail
Any store that publishes product data is read by the general pass. These get extra help on top.

Nothing invented, nothing dressed up
It cannot tell you the price is good
That needs prices from other stores. It checks what the listing says about its own price, and says so at the top of the section.
Arithmetic, not accusations
A discount that does not add up is reported as inconsistent, never as fake. A stale was-price looks the same as a dishonest one.
Review patterns are signals
None is ever raised above minor. Real buyers write short reviews in bursts too, and ShopInspect says it cannot tell the difference.
Not stated is not absent
A listing with no warranty line has not been shown to have no warranty. Many stores keep their policies on another page.
What you shop for stays yours
A shopping extension could learn what you want and what you can afford. ShopInspect is built so that it cannot.
Not on the page until you ask
There is no content script in the manifest. Nothing of ShopInspect exists on a page until you ask for a report on it.
No shopping history
There is no list of what you looked at. Only the products you choose to save for comparing are kept.
Reviews analysed, never kept
Themes and a few short quotes reach the report. No reviewer's name, avatar or profile is ever read.
No network requests
There is no endpoint to send anything to. Reading, analysis and scoring all happen in your browser.
Invisible to shops
A store cannot detect that you have ShopInspect installed, so it cannot treat you differently.
Affiliate links, disclosed
Two stores and the popup's advert earn the founder a commission. Each is marked "Ad", and none changes a report.
Common questions
What does it cost?
Nothing. The popup carries one advert, labelled "Ad", from a list that ships inside the extension, and one click turns it off for good. Some of those adverts are the founder's affiliate links, and the privacy policy says which.
Which browsers does it work in?
Chrome 116 and later, and the Chromium browsers that install Chrome extensions, such as Edge, Brave and Opera.
Why will it not inspect the page I am on?
It reads one product at a time, so a search, category or basket page has nothing for it to inspect. The popup shows the signals behind that judgement, and can read any product in the page's grid without leaving it.
Does it compare prices across stores?
Not yet. That needs a service, which would be the first time anything leaves your browser, so it will be opt-in and say exactly what is sent. The local report will keep working without it.
Does it tell me whether a site is a scam?
No. ShopInspect looks at the listing, not the site. For phishing and fake stores, use WebGuard.
